My First Bolg Post

My name is Stacey Hunt and I am beginning a new experience in obtaining a master's degree in Educational Administration.  I am currently beginning my Action Research class.  I am very excited to begin this new experience.

I have already learned many aspects of Action Research.  Action Research is the process of a principal engaging in the study of his/her own work and taking action to change based on what he/she has learned. The administrator will look to make change based on inquiry and data. The administrator will then share results with others. Action Research is based on the work of teacher action research. This can be a powerful tool in the professional development for principals.

Action Research differs from traditional educational research in that traditional research relies heavily on "outsiders" to determine what is best practice in schools. Action Research includes the voices of the people working in the schools. Through Action Research, practitioners become decision makers in investigating their own problems.

Action Research has many advantages including keeping principals from becoming isolated in his/her job.  Action Research allows principals to become role models for teachers. Through Action Research best practice becomes the norm at schools, and principals can slow down the torrid pace of his/her job.
